MOOOI
I discovered the Moooi brand a few years ago, during Milan Design Week, and that was the opportunity to see their "Horse Lamp" (by Front) and I fell in love with it instantly.
Since then, I've always followed their new products.
It's difficult for me to express why I like an art or design object.
In my case, starting with the artist, the designer, the current trend, or market demand is probably the least of the reasons.
Perhaps the first thing is curiosity; I'm a curious person.
The "Horse Lamp" struck me for its size (it represents a life-size horse).
It looked like a real horse, there watching you.
For me, horses have always represented elegance and majesty, but also freedom, imagining them running along a beach or in a prairie.
But I also imagine them walking beside you, silently, and when they do so, they are showing you their trust and it is as if they were telling you “I am here beside you”.
I've never experienced it myself, but I've been told that when a horse stops in front of you and lets you pet its nose or rests its head on your shoulder, you feel like you've achieved something immense, a recognition that goes beyond words.
In speaking with various artists, I've been told that drawing or sculpting a horse is considered difficult due to its complex anatomy, defined musculature, and specific proportions.
Let's just say that not everyone is capable of doing it, rendering it realistically.
In the case of the "Horse Lamp", one can say the intent was successful because it seems genuine, real, and, as I said before, it's as if it were saying, "I'm here beside you."
Below, you'll find some information about the company, and I'd like to take this opportunity to thank them for their kindness.
Enjoy your reading.
