TONINO LAMORGHINI (Formitalia)

 - Gabriella Ruggieri & partners

During the Milano Design Week, we took our friend Maria Elena Savini, designer of the LussoMediterraneo brand, to visit the Formitalia Luxury Group stand at Salone del Mobile, taking advantage of the exquisite kindness and welcome of our friend Bruno Baglivo, art curator for “MIRABILI Arte d'Ahabitare”. (The original and brilliant idea of MIRABILI, born in 1986 from an idea of Sergio Cammilli, is now carried on by the brothers David and Gianni Overi of Formitalia Luxury Group who in 2002 bought the brand).

For those who do not know, the art curator is the one who takes care of the entire organization of the art exhibition within cultural centers, museums, foundations, galleries, trade fairs such as the Salone del Mobile. It takes care of contacting the artists, choosing the works, set up the space where the exhibition will be held. It also finds the necessary funding for the realization of the events and manages the promotional campaigns. Why did I want to emphasize this? Because there are ingredients (in my opinion) that it is not obvious to find in this difficult profession: education, courtesy, kindness and not making promises that cannot be kept. Here are the peculiarities of Bruno Baglivo. Am I biased? Yes, I know. But those who know me know that I also know how to shut up.

The FORMITALIA Group of furniture companies  was founded  by Graziano Overi in 1968, while the first FORMITALIA Luxury Collection  was   created in 1991,  namely the Boutique Collection designed by Paolo Gucci, characterised by prints and details recalling the world of horses, with prints of Arabian horse profiles made of pure silk from Como, and by metal and leather work carried out by Florentine craftsmen. This success has been achieved thanks to the indepth knowledge of leathers,  the selection of the finest tans that are worked with crocodile and ostrich prints to emphasise the mood that has given the Formitalia brand its key imprint. All production was carried out mainly in Tuscany, in the cities of Firenze, Prato, Pistoia and Pisa. Formitalia focuses on leather and every possible use of it: from the living area to large and sophisticated bedrooms, the Formitalia style makes the home unique, precious, cosmopolitan, elegant, warm and welcoming.

In recent years, charm and luxury have been increasingly oriented towards minimalist and contemporary design. The richness of forms and the classic soul give way to a decidedly modern style, where essentiality is enhanced by refined materials and  exceptional finishes, distinguished by craftsmanship proudly Made in Italy. Satin-finished metals, natural stones, refined leathers and fabrics emerge from a context in which the design is characterised by extremely clean  lines that emphasise, now more than ever, the impeccable craftsmanship that has always distinguished Formitalia's collections in ltaly and around the world.

The choice ranges from metals with o light gold finish with a satin or polished effect, to marbles such as Calacatta Gold and Afyon, to natural stones such as white onyx; to woods with the essence of Canaletto walnut with a very natural effect or black ash with an open pore. All this combined with very soft Nappa leather treated with natural finishes, nubuck leather dyed with natural colours, exclusive fabrics, available in over 200 colours and  patterns (www.formitalia.it)
