LOUIS VUITTON Objets Nomades 2023
Since 2012, Louis Vuitton has invited renowned designers from around the world to imagine experimental and functional design objects for the Objets Nomades collection.
From hammocks to folding stools, armchairs to furnishing screens, each limited edition project pushes the boundaries of leather craftsmanship to showcase the Maison's intricate craftsmanship and creative innovation.
The collection pays homage to Louis Vuitton special orders of the past, such as the iconic Malle-Lit created in 1874 for the French explorer Pierre Savorgnan de Brazza, while celebrating the highly contemporary visions of a diverse group of international designers.
Some of the world's most famous designers have created Objets Nomades for Louis Vuitton, including India Mahdavi, Marcel Wanders, Patricia Urquiola, Fernando and Humberto Campana, Atelier Oï and many others.
Each Objet Nomade represents the meeting of a designer's artistic vision with the creative skills of Louis Vuitton artisans, bringing together distinct skills to create entirely new travel objects.
One of the most alluring attributes of Milan Design Week is the city of Milan itself, a place where a stone planter on a street corner or a petite door into a private courtyard quietly attract attention. As such, brands often tap into the city’s splendors and invite guests to step into the extraordinary. Epitomizing this pairing of design and destination, "Pavillon Nomad" is being presented by Louis Vuitton in the heart of the historic Palazzo Serbelloni as an accompaniment to the release of the prestigious brand’s new "Objets Nomades" pieces. Designed by the New York-based French architect Marc Fornes, also known as THEVERYMANY, the shimmering, organic structure is composed of more than 1,600 ultra-thin strips of anodized aluminum (with no two pieces exactly the same). The bulbous, metallic and coral-like creation even welcomes visitors to explore within.
“When you enter, you can follow along the surface. You can read into it whatever you like. It’s not referential to anything but everyone reads something in it.” (Marc Fornes)
We were obviously there and took many photos and in this sense we invite you to visit the Gallery, as regards the technical descriptions, we relied on the Louis Vuitton website and that of the designers involved (which we invite you to visit) because unfortunately at the entrance there was no type of material provided, nor press releases or brochures…
