WE PLANET
Contest: We Planet - 100 globes for a sustainable future

We Planet is a project that makes use of the creativity of designers, artists and students of the Milanese academies, called to interpret the concept of sustainability by confronting each other through an unprecedented installation: a large globe made of eco-sustainable material.

In June, all the globes were screened by an exceptional jury composed of:
-Attilio Tono (sculptor)
-Paolo Casserà (CEO of WePlanet)
-Beatrice Mosca (event organizer and Coordinator of WePlanet Milano)
-Stefano Zecchi (philosopher)
The latter said:
“Science intends to explain things; art wants to grasp the meaning of things.
The ruin our planet is facing is under everyone's eyes: an excess of exploitation of its resources, a violence to its integrity.
This is explained by science and technology which, however, are also responsible for this ruin, since the mind of man is not always able to govern them in a 'sustainable' direction for the existence of the planet.
Art, if it is a commitment not to evade the meaning of life, shows what escapes the gaze of man and moreover it is able to highlight what scientific research forgets when materials interests and economic advantage are put in the first place.
I would like the artists competing to accept the challenge of representing to us with their talent that life of the planet that escapes our gaze and that is forgotten by science ”.

-The winner of the competition was able to create his globe in the Art Workshop organized by WePlanet in the former railway station of Milan Central Station made available by Grandi Stazioni Retail.
The globe was then exhibited as part of the great official '100 globes for a sustainable future' event to be held from 27 August to 7 November in Milan and Florence.
-The second and third place will win one of the beautiful terrestrial ceramic spheres of the WePlanet Collection made by the design studio Creativando.

At the end, all the globes will be auctioned at a charity auction organized by Sotheby's and the proceeds will be donated to ForestaMi, in particular to the Parco Segantini Onlus Association, the Niguarda Hospital and the Umberto Veronesi Foundation for scientific research of excellence against tumors, and to the Fondazione Progetto Arca Onlus in support of the poor for integration and assistance.

The competition aimed to appeal to all creatives who wish to discuss the subject and see their work exhibited together with that created by Michele De Lucchi, Giulio Cappellini, Andrea Boschetti and Marco Scali.
