ALESSI at Salone del Mobile

 - Gabriella Ruggieri & partners
Dual commitment for ALESSI: at the Salone del Mobile 2018 with the great designers and at the Fuorisalone with its first collection of home fragrance.
ALESSI was present at the Salone del Mobile 2018 with an anthology of projects that illustrated the richness and variety of the domestic landscape the company has developed in almost half a century in the business. Past and present side-by-side in a heterogeneous collection of objects and designers, in a perfect excursus that provides inspiration for the scenarios of the near future.
Five themes - Living, Table, Kitchen, Bar, Bathroom – form the basis of a display that showcased ALESSI’s home, bar, table accessories, lighting products, kitchen and bathroom objects, all created by internationally renowned designers.
The group of architects and designers chosen to represent the brand on its first appearance in the design pavilions included Ettore Sottsass, Giulio Iacchetti and Jasper Morrison for the Bar area; David Chipperfield, Doriana and Massimiliano Fuksas, Zaha Hadid, Toyo Ito, Daniel Libeskind and Marcel Wanders for the Table and Kitchen section; the Campana Brothers, Giovanni Alessi Anghini and Gabriele Chiave and the King-Kong duo for the Living Room; Piero Lissoni and Stefano Giovannoni for the Bathroom area.
A look at the most important meta-projects – The Five Seasons, Extra Ordinary Metal, Alessi Circus – occupied the central space of the stand.

“Domestic Landscapes” is the title of the short retrospective set up with images and drawings taken from the vast company archive and from the Alessi Museum. A selection of historic icons rendered contemporary by their ability to dialogue with the public of their time and the millennials of today: the “Juicy Salif” Citrus-squeezer by Philippe Starck (1990), the “9093” Kettle by Michael Graves (1985), the “9090” Espresso coffee maker by Richard Sapper from 1979, the La cupola Espresso coffee maker by Aldo Rossi (1988), the wooden Pepper Mills by Ettore Sottsass (1989/1994), commemorative versions of the classics by Achille Castiglioni...
High design and production quality consolidates ALESSI’s reputation as one of the leading exponents of Italian design. A company that is able to envisage the needs of our time with a development model that takes account of economic aspects while generating a positive impact on the communities and areas in which it operates.

ALESSI is also in the city centre for the launch of its first home fragrance collection. “The Five Seasons” by Marcel Wanders is presented to the public for the first time during Milano Design Week 2018 at the ALESSI Flagship Store in Via Manzoni and with a special display at la Rinascente Duomo.
Designed by Marcel Wanders, “The Five Seasons” is a love song to nature, which is celebrated through the domestic recreation of the cyclical experience of the seasons: from the regeneration that follows the cold winter to the blossoming of nature in the spring, from the full flowering of the summer to the harvesting of the autumn fruits. The four age-old seasons, which are joined by a fifth: Transcendence, enigmatic and cloaked in black.
“Brrr” (Winter), “Ahhh” (Spring), “Hmm” (Summer), “Grrr” (Autumn) and “Shhh” (Special) are the five fragrances whose personalities are suggested by their names. (press release - www.alessi.com)
