“I was born in Pinerolo in the province of Turin, the birthplace of the Italian Cavalry and my dad was a cavalry officer.
My childhood took place in a country house with so many horses around, so many animals and this we say somehow influenced me, because the animal continues to be a very important element in everything I do.
As life is for many officers abroad and in Italy, we roamed and we arrived as far as Rome.
My studies were absolutely regular and I was also a good student.
I got my degree, applied for a diplomatic position and was offered a job in the Secretariat of the Embassy in Syria.
My father at this point rather than allowing me to go to Syria, reminded me of my love for painting and from that moment on, I had the go-ahead.
I am completely self-taught.
Except for those years where I was in De Chirico’s studio where I watched, I learned by watching: the Maestro taught you nothing, he created and I watched.
Perhaps through watching I learned more than if I had taken a thousand lessons.
He gave me so much.
